Satyricon’s Annual Picnic with Pie Throw!

Satyricon’sJuly meeting is our Annual Picnic! The picnicis on Saturday, July 12th at 3:30pm to nearly sundown. Instead of meeting at our usual location, we’ll be gathering at Olin Park (1156 Olin Turville Dr, Madison, WI 53713). Just come looking for the black and blue balloons! This year in addition to the picnic, we will be raising money by doing a Cream Pie throw! $5 will get you an opportunity to lob a whipped cream pie at a Satyricon officer. Because we care. Satyricon will provide the following: 1. Grills for cooking, one carnivore, one vegetarian (if you are vegetarian, please bring what you want to grill). 2. Charcoal (unless they are propane grills). 3. Cups, paper plates, utensils, napkins, garbage bags and cups. 4. Ice 5. Soda and water 6. Ketchup and mustard 7. Hot dogs and buns What do you need to bring? 1. A chair or blanket to sit on. 2. Maybe an umbrella (for shade or for repelling rain). 3. Sunscreen/bug spray. 4. All are good jumping off points for the topic at Satyricon, Saturday June 14. Our Presenter, emmeline, is collared by Satyricon President Wicked Wanda. Presenter Bio
Travis Wilson has been an attorney since 1972, and in the Leather/BDSM lifestyle almost as long. He was one of the founders of Houston’s PEP and was Chairman of that organization for many years. He was the founder of the Houston S&M Ball and Chairman for the first eight Balls, helping to make it an internationally known and respected Fetish event.
Travis has served on the Board of Directors of the Leather Leadership Conference as well as been a presenter and sometimes the keynote speaker at various Leather/BDSM events including (many of them multiple times) Beat me in St. Louis, Chicago’s Kinky Kollege, Texas Leather Pride, the Austin GWNN Bash, the NLA’s Living in Leather, Camp Crucible, Ms. Gulf Coast Leather, Dallas’ Beyond Vanilla, MadtownKinkfest, and Twisted Tryst.
When not working or playing with his leather toys, Travis plays trumpet in Jazz, Rock/Blues/R&B, and church “praise” bands.

“Whose Switch is it Anyway?” with Vesper

Where the play is for fun and the roles don’t matter, that’s right, the roles don’t matter, just like the “One Twue Way”. Vesper will be your host and you’re all be there to have fun! We’ll be playing a whole mess of games, and hopefully, getting a whole lot of messy. Come prepared, come unprepared, just clean up after yourself when you’re done. We’ll be playing improv games gone horribly, terribly right, with a twist of kink in them. As the name of the event may have tipped you off, the focus of these games will be on switching, so get ready to D your s, get some S in your M, and top off your bottom for a slightly silly, surprisingly satisfying, and supremely switchy session!

Vesper entered the kink community in 2003 and has been serving it since 2006 with a focus on providing safe, comfortable spaces for people to begin or continue their journeys, explore, and grow. To that end, Vesper has helped form and run a number of educational/social groups in Milwaukee and Madison, and coordinates the volunteers for Twisted Tryst. While presenting at events across the country Vesper shows people the ropes, the physics of flogging, explains queer theory, the variety of relationship styles out there, or whatever he can to help you get your freak on. When not presenting you might find this Leather queer frolicking in a kilt, biting a lover or two, getting mimsy in the borogoves, or captaining a motorboat to and fro.

Rowan is a trans* sexuality and kink educator. He presents at regional events, conferences, and sex shops primarily in the Midwest. He is a certified Tantra practitioner, and is the co-founder of TransTantra, with his wife, Aeshe. TransTantra espouses a radically inclusive approach to tantra and intimate, energetic connections inherent in the roles we play. He believes that during sexual experience we have the ability to connect on a primal and visceral level beyond words, where we are most ourselves. He is a polytheistic pagan and a spirit-worker.
Symetrie presents a practical, poetic, and contemplative approach to both conscious sexuality and intentional loving. She is a certified yoga instructor trained in the Hatha and Tantric traditions, as well as a corporate Employee Development trainer. Providing dynamic and inventive sexual health education and exploration, Symetrie’s teaching focuses on the harmonic convergence of personal meaning and perceptions vital to the life functions expressed through our senses. She believes ecstasy is necessary, eroticism is intelligent, and that intimacy is a revolution.

Beyond Consent: BDSM and Abuse – The classic concepts of abuse and abusive relationships are more confusing when regarded in the context of power exchange relationships and alternative sexuality. We engage in – and condone – relationships that, on the surface, may appear abusive; however, we understand that consent is the key to the difference. But what happens when the behavior becomes abusive? How do we respond, as individuals and as a community? How can we identify abusive behavior beginning in our own relationships and how do we define the difference to others? What is informed consent – and how do we deal with impaired consent? We’ll start the discussion and provide some concepts to help you frame (or reframe) your thoughts, both as a kink practitioner and as a community member.
Satyricon is a coalition partner of NCSF (National Coalition for Sexual Freedom) and as such, we hold an annual fundraiser for NCSF. This year, we will be selling tickets to win awesome prizes.

Sarah Sloane is a sexuality educator with over a dozen years of experience and a writer on activist/educational topics. ‘Tis the season for giving, last year we collected food and items for the Goodman Center. This year, we’d like to collect things for the after school program that is run where we meet. Without giving away the name of our meeting place, as many of you know, we meet in the children’s area of the building.
We are part of the Madison Kink community, which we want to help continue to grow and thrive, so this December we will be holding our annual potluck.
The after school program serves about 40 kids from ages 5-12yrs old. If you would like to donate toys and nutritional snack foods, we will be collecting these items for the kids. Let’s show them how much we appreciate their space!

Many kinksters start their journey with a blindfold, and it remains a useful tool with the even the most experienced players. Effectively blocking sight and the other senses can be a challenge. This discussion will explore varied techniques and equipment to help remove or modify sensory input, for both short and long term scenes. From quick techniques to isolate a bottom so they won’t know whats next, to more extreme levels of sensory deprivation for relaxation and meditation. Various pieces will be on-hand to spark new ideas for this kind of play, please bring your own ideas as well.

Tall, bald, creative guy. I’m always making something. Good meals, leather toys, latex clothes, furniture, desserts with sugar and booze, photos, or whatever strange new toy I happen to be building at the moment. I do design and photography, both for my vanilla company as well as kink events and publications. Some of my kink photography and toymaking tutorials can be seen at smutcraft.com, but thats limited to those I have releases for. I’ve developed and taught a few classes for groups around the midwest. Toymaking in various forms, “things that go thud in the night”, varied rope and non-rope bondage, sensory deprivation/manipulation, and photography for kinky folk.

December Potluck and Food Drive
Every year Satyricon takes a break from the hectic holiday season to focus entirely on our community.
We are part of the Madison Kink community, which we want to help continue to grow and thrive, so this December we will be holding our annual potluck.
I’m sure you’ve been to plenty of holiday potlucks, but Satyricon’s has always been special to me. We build up our community with open discussion so we all may be heard. Our friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers come together, to get to know each other better and tighten those bonds. And this year we’ll be helping those in the Madison community by gathering food and household items together for our local food shelter at the Goodman Center.

Dungeon Monitor Training with Min
Class Description
Dungeon safety is an ever present concern among those involved with BDSM. This event is being offered those who would like to get basic information on what is involved with being a DM, what to look for, what to expect, what to do, and also, what not to do. We will also address what to do and NOT do if the need arises to interact with law enforcement in the course of DM duties. So whether you actually want to be a Dungeon Monitor somewhere or just become more informed, this will be for you. This will simply be an educational and informational opportunity for the community to come out and learn the general ins and outs of being a Dungeon Monitor

Rope Intensive
Class Description
We’re trying something new here at Satyricon, and we’re calling it an “intensive”. Groups often have trouble putting on classes that go beyond the 101 level and we’re anticipating this to be a great way to reach people at all levels.
Instead of having one presenter in front of everyone we’re going to have a number of stations around the room each with an instructor. Each station is going to be focused on a different sort of tie: cuffs, chest harnesses, karadas, et cetera. The stations will be more free form lessons than structured classes; this way everyone who comes will get a lot more personal attention. You’ll have time to practice, get personalized lessons, and get one on one attention from the instructor, all in a casual environment. Our instructors are going to beDeviantTouch, ElevateinWI, Jfoto, Sir_Wieland, andVesper.
For those of you who have been to one of our Exploratoriums this will be similar to those, but instead of getting a taste at each station you’ll be learning how to cook the dish. We would appreciate everyone who can to bring their own rope as there will be a lot of hands on experience potential, but if you don’t have any don’t worry, I’m sure some people will have some spare rope they’d be willing to share.
